Is my reset button broken?

I bought a pro 3 SE used a while back and have only just started delving a bit deeper into the sequencer. The problem is I have been trying to alter the length of the cutoff track to create some variation by holding the step I want to be last then pressing reset and nothing seems to happen. Also pressing reset when the sequence is running doesn’t restart the seq.
Should the reset button illuminate when pressed? Assuming it is faulty would the sound tower editor allow me to achieve the polyrhythm effect I’m after, or perhaps some third part step sequence like stepic?
Finally assuming the reset button is broken, have any se owners here ever looked inside the top panel? How easy is it to open up? Looks like it could be tricky!

Mine is doing exactly the same thing.

I figured this out. You don't hold the reset button and then press the reset button, you hold the step button and then press reset.
