KEY > LPF Freq Implementation

KEY > LPF Freq Implementation

The KEY > LPF Frequency has some strange behavior, unlike I've seen implemented before.

I did some digging to figure out what's happening.   Appears the logic used in the current configuration is that it uses Note Number to Cutoff (as expected) but scales it from the center-point of the keybed (C4) and with bidirectional positive and negative values.   I'm thinking this is maybe a oversight?    Shouldn't KEY>LPF scale up from MIDI note number 0 and only have positive values, rather than with a center-point of note number 96? with both negative and positive.

As it is now, the KEY>LPF generates no change in cutoff at C4, and negative filter cutoff under that key, and positive filter cutoff above.   I seems un-intuitive and hard to dial in sounds, as your dealing with both negative and positive modulation when counterbalancing with the cutoff knob.    Also, it makes trying to achieve self resonant filter tracking very difficult.   Even at full value 127, it doesn't track consecutive keys to semitones...   seems to be ~5 cents flat per each key.

I really like how all the rest of Sequential instruments I own scale it up from key 0, with a value of 64 being semitone key tracking.   (that's how Pro2, Evolver, P12 and Rev2 function)

Any chance we can get this adjusted in firmware?

Have you submitted this to support? It’s the best way to get it seen.

Good idea!   I'll submit tech support reports as well.   Have only had Pro3 for 24hrs...  so some of the items I'm running into might just be user error or might have a workaround that other users have figured out.

Ah this is probably why I couldn’t get the effect I wanted on a couple of patches. But I just gave up rather than trying to figure out the cause!
