256 New sounds coming...suggestions welcome
« on: February 29, 2020, 07:01:11 AM »
Hello.

Maybe you know who I am and what I do, maybe you don't.
It's all explained here where you can find a number of DSI/Sequencial banks:
http://www.timmantle.com/about.html

So I'm finally moving on to the OB-6. This project will probably take over 2 months but I wanted to check in before I made a real start. Is there anything the OB-6 community would like to hear more of?
Basses, leads, pads etc?

Thought I would ask.

Love to all,
Tim

Yes to all those types. Several that make use of xmod and osc2 as lfo, too.

My main request would be: avoid nostalgia/retro and focus on current/future. “Timeless” patches welcomed, too!

Look forward to hearing the results.

Thanks for the heads up. The demo of the Prophet 6 patches below will give you an idea of the kind of work I do, tend to avoid retro 80's since there is plenty of that out there already and these synths easily lend themselves in that direction. It's more fun to see what else they can do...

I would happily buy a bank with classic lead patches only. Some modern, heavily modulated leads also would be welcome, but I think OB-6 excels at these veritable prog rock-like sounds.
There are no good lead sounds within the factory banks, so I programmed some myself, but I see there is still an enormous  potential in this field.
We don't need more strings and polysynth patches and I won't pay for any - there are loads of them already!

I would love to buy some new "sounds of today" bank, we have loads of vintage patches out there, but not so many futuristic sound's with all ob6 tweaking power. Loved your MicroKorg patches from years ago :)

i'd love to have obx and obxa factory patches, but you probably don't have those laying around :)

I have your Tempest pack, and the synth bank from that is great! I tweak and use those a lot, and appreciate the variety. If it's anything like that, I'd be happy :-)

Whatever the case, I'd only be interested in playable, musical patches on the OB-6 (vs sound effects, percussion, noise, etc). The one exception might be drones or background sound-washes.

I'd love to see some patches with creative use of effects as part of the sound itself when/if possible. And naturally, I'm curious to see what you do with XMod/VCO2.

Well, it's only taken about two months worth of graft every working day available!! ...but I'm nearly done.
I have a couple of sounds left to go, then I'll 'render' them, normalise the volume and get a demo done.
All in all it'll be hopefully no longer than another two and a half weeks.

256 OB-6 presets covers a lot of ground but I'll say this, I mostly (though not exclusively) stayed away from the classics and went with more modern sounds. All should be absolutely playable, there are maybe 5-10 that are 'effects' or just too intense to make a melody out of.
Loads of X-Mod use, you can also expect effects on almost every sound, but you can always turn them off.
More news soon and thanks for your patience!
