Digital Background Noise Sound in Prophet 12 Patches

Digital Background Noise Sound in Prophet 12 Patches

Hey all

I am hearing what can best be described as a bit of digital distortion mainly on the headphones out but also in stuff I record.  It seems a bit amplified on the headphones out, but I still hear it when I use line-in on recordings.

Anyone else come across this?  I thought I was just hearing some bad patches, until I noticed this digital distortion sound in almost everything.  Here is a recording of P38 F7 Polyphor where I can hear this distortion:

Here is one using the P1 F5 It's a Prophet! Patch (more noticeable)

Here is one using a sound from a purchased bank (Epic Strings Roz).  It has that noise sort of fluttering, you can hear it very well here:

It may be hard for the average person to pick up, but I'd describe it as in the 10khz zone.  Slight distortion or like fluttering.  Anyone else notice this?  Is this an issue?

I bought mine second hand, so wondering if this might just be a problem with my particular module.

I am not hearing this fluttering on mine (P12 module, also 2ndhand). Have you tried using DIN MIDI (if you're attached via USB)? Are those recordings direct, or via other equipment which could be picking up environmental digital noise?

It sounds like the ground from a USB. You need to snip the black wire inside the USB cable or get a USB ground isolator. I snipped the black wire inside all my USB cables that connect synths, now they're dead quite (P12 included)
