TETRA external Sync to Ableton Live

TETRA external Sync to Ableton Live
« on: December 29, 2019, 02:36:20 AM »
Hello, I have a small issue where I need my TETRA to be clocked via USB from Ableton Live clock output so my Combo can be synced externally via Ableton global bpm. This topic is probably old and outdated, but I am trying not to purchase any external editor and directly sync the hardware with the software only. Any help or advice would be highly appreciated.

If you set Tetra's clock to External in the Global menu this should do what you want, provided Ableton is sending clock out on Tetra's MIDI channel.

One thing to note, the sequencer and the arpeggiator will not run without the presence of a clock when set to External. If you're going to use Tetra in standalone mode or any other situation where it is not receiving clock externally, change the Global clock setting back to Internal.

To add to what Robot Heart is saying, the other (Ableton) side of the question involves:

(1) Open the Live > Preferences... menu item
(2) In the pop-up panel, select the "Link/MIDI" side tab
(3) Find your Tetra in the list of devices
(4) Make sure that the "Sync" switch is turned on

This will cause Ableton to send clock to the Tetra.
