Issue: Recording REV2 sequencer midi notes in Cubase
« on: October 20, 2019, 03:53:13 AM »
Hello,

I read quite a lot the internet (and this forum) about issues with sending midi from the sequencer of the Rev2 to a DAW.
I know it is possible but the problem I have at the moment is strange and its driving me crazy  >:(

What's going on:
I connect the Rev2 via USB to Computer (iMac)
The Rev2 is in Multimode: Midi channel 11 (Layer A) & (automatically) 12 (Layer B) with each their own audiotrack

In Cubase (Pro10):
I created 2 MIDI channels (11 & 12) and 2 audio stereo tracks.
When I play and record notes manually on the Rev2 it wil be recorded in Cubase BUT when I want to record a sequence from the REV2 in Cubase, I can hear the sequence playing on each layer on its own audio track (that works, great)
But there are no notes recorded (no midi activity at all).

The only way I can record a sequence in Cubase is by switching to Local On.
The sequence is recorded but not seperated in each of their midi channel (11 layer A and 12 layer B) but stacked together with a lot of double notes. (Tried in Split A/B mode, Stack A/B mode etc.)

In the REV Global menu:
MIDI out ARP+SEQ on
Multi-Mode on
Midi clock mode: slave

I tried almost every combination:
switching MIDI Thru Active on and off (in Cubase)
USB MIDI and MIDI with Cables (midi in/out)
CC and NRPN (Rev2)
Track MIDI monitor on and off (Cubase)
Only MIDI in routing active while recording (Cubase)

So what could it be?

regards,
Patrick

UPDATE:
I contacted Sequential about this issue and they confirmed that when Rev2 is in Local Off mode the sequencer stops outputting midi note data.

It will be added on the bug list of items to fix in de upcomming OS Update.

When this will be is not known at the moment.

Bye,
Patrick
