LFO and wheel

LFO and wheel

Is it possible to have a LFO in sync with tempo that would speedup with the wheel but with discrete dividers (like 1/3, 1/4, 1/16). I often hear that is today music, like a ratchet effect. Not sure I’m clear  :)

No, once the LFO is synced to the clock the wheel can't control the LFO rate anymore. Unfortunately it can't be controlled by the sequencer either when it's synced. That would have been an obvious alternative.

One workaround for real-time control would be to route a second LFO to the same destination as your first LFO with amount set to 0 and rate set at twice the speed (for example) and then let the mod wheel control the LFO amount. Since you have 2 LFOs going to the same destination you might have to find a sweet spot for the effect you want but it at least allows for 2 different synced LFOs rates. And you could add a third with another LFO that you bring in with expression pedal.

Of course if you're using a DAW you can also send a CC message to change the rate when you need it to change to 1/3, 1/4, 1/16, etc.
