Here is a track I've been fiddling around with over the holidays at the cottage (and away from my studio). Done on a Mother32 I brought along.

There are some gorgeous patches in there.  Nice little piece, and excellent recording quality.

Thanks Sacred Synthesis - appreciate the comment. This was a fun project while away from the studio and working with only minimal gear. Cool whats possible when limited.

So a little cheating :) - this was my weekend fun @ the cottage. All sounds except the drum machine are Mother 32.

A small multitrack demo recorded in Logic using some of internal plugins and Cableguys Shaperbox for sidechaining and bitcrushing a little bit.

After using a slew of synths over the last 3 months and finally rotating back to the P12,  I realized how much I still like this instrument.   Firstly, I can make any sound on it. And secondly, I just seem to remember every nook and cranny.  Whereas some of my other instruments I end up needing to refresh my memory  on where things are located.

I don't know if this count's, because I used drums and effects from Ableton Live, but I bought myself a Matriarch last weekend and made a little track with it the last night. Because its sound gave me such retro vibes I wanted to do something in 80s synthwave style. As always: it's not the greatest of all compositions, but I had a lot of fun doing it.

Working on a sound bank for the Prophet~6. Here are a couple of P6-only tracks: https://soundcloud.com/solidtrax/sets/prophet-6 created in Bitwig Studio. Most effects are from the Prophet~6 itself, but added a couple of native Bitwig Studio effects.

Using the Belgian made synth Modor NF-1 always seems to entice some pretty different sounds.  Its a nice digital synth with some immediacy to custom sound design.

Strymon effects.

This is a track I did for a level of my sons' upcoming mobile game. The single synth here is Prophet 5, recorded in three parts over six audio tracks. The process is a refinement of something I started doing a few years ago, which is that I compose in Finale, then export the score as a MIDI file. Then I drag the MIDI file into Ableton and go to work on recording and adding effects.

My DAW situation is kind of a mess. The audio interface is a Tascam DR-05X PCM recorder, because I couldn't find the one USB cable that my Audiobox USB uses.

The highlight of the whole project was using the Prophet 5. It's an absolute pleasure to make sounds for this instrument. I feel like I'm gaining some degree of confidence in getting what I want out of it.

That was a decent little composition, Chysn.  It sounds as if you've moved towards more traditional forms and expressions of music.

My purchase of the Prophet 5 is a culmination of my desire to use things like notes and key signatures and time signatures again. It won't be one thing or another, but as the situation calls for. Let's just say that my first few efforts to make music for this game were soundly rejected by my boys*!

Thanks for listening.

This is another multi-tracked Prophet 5 piece for my sons’ upcoming mobile game. Its release has been delayed because one of my sons turned 18 and we need to get the Google account into his name now. Or something. But they did a great job on the game.

Again, the workflow was Finale-to-Ableton several times.

I really like your video game compositions. Did I miss it, but what's the name of your sons' game? Where can I play it?

I think video game music is a genre of music on its own. And since 2023 there's also a Grammy Award for it. The first winner is a composer of some part of the Assassin's Creed franchise.

There were great video game composers and soundtracks out there for decades. Especially those masters composing for japanese role play games (JRPGs) are doing a really great job. In this subgenre of RPGs there was always a lot of focus on the music. I like to see that the big western game studios are finally recognizing the importance of music, too. I think we will see more and more big soundtracks in the near future, now theres a world famous award for it. Even local classic music radio stations reported about it in this years spring here in Germany.
