OB-6 Update

OB-6 Update
« on: September 07, 2019, 02:58:41 PM »
Hi Folks,
I'm a new happy owner of an OB-6 module.
I saw that the currently version of the software is 1.2.0.
I wanted to know if the 1.5.5 available on the Sequential website is solid without any bugs or so ?

Thank you for your help  :)

Regards

1.5.8 is the new Beta, which has two bug fixes.
Check out the os update thread for the file and details.

Hi
Thank you, saw it.
But as the Sequential website only show the FW 1.5.5 that means this one can still create issue as it's a BETA or not ?
Sorry, just want to be sure everything will be fine with the update.
Cheers

1.5.5 is no longer beta.  If you don’t update to 1.5.5 you will find these bugs:

Main OS 1.5.5
Fixed bug: with no external clock present, arp beat sync on, arp does not quantize
Fixed bug: record on/off NRPN not being responded to

Main OS 1.4.9
Fixed bug: LED consistency improvements

Main OS 1.4.1
Fixed bug: Correct brightness inconsistencies with small rectangular LEDs
Fixed bug: Additional Polychain improvement

Main OS 1.3.7
Feature: New Global Param: Arp Beat Sync On/Off. Global row 2 number 9
Feature: MIDI Out for the Arp/Sequencer - Param Xmit Global options CAS (CC + MIDI Out for arp/seq) and nAS (NRPN + MIDI Out for arp/seq)
Feature: Sequencer now transposes from keyboard/MIDI notes on UNISON patches
Fixed bug: Improved Polychain implementation and fixed bugs
Fixed bug: Various small bug fixes

If you do update, you will find a solid OS with two remaining bugs to fix:

Main OS 1.5.8
Fixed bug: Improvements to ARP BEAT SYNC operation
Fixed bug: CC5 sent from portamento mode parameter.  Now sent from RATE parameter

Congratulations on your new beautiful synth!

any chance of sequential improving the 'beat sync' they added to the ARP on the OB-6 to actually react/work like the best-in-class beat sync arps (try a Roland Juno 60 for example), although it's now better than without the added feature it still doesn't work as well. It's not so much the sync but the way the notes are distributed on a new key press, they kinda 'restart' with a double trigger note (IIRC) something like that, doesn't feel as natural or inspiring. Again just play the same arp on an old Roland vs the OB-6 and you'll see the difference. It makes the OB-6 arp still kinda unusable in many situations all because it forces one-too-many notes in instead of following the traditional up/down (2 octave) style of older synths like the Polysix/Juno/Jupiter
