Output level suddenly lower
« on: March 08, 2019, 06:11:14 PM »
Just switched on my X to have a play.
For some reason the synth is really quiet with a really low SNR.
Much quieter than before.
Am going through everything and can't figure it out.

What's going on - anyone else had this?

I've

Checked cables
Checked interface
Checked monitors
all fine

Checked heaphones / b outputs / main outs
Reset globals
Tried restarting
still all very low.

have sent a ticket to support

Check knob mode in globals. Set “jump” (or whatever it’s called on DSI). Reboot and see if that changes anything. There was a bug a long while back where relative mode was ignored for the master volume knob.

There may have been a solar flare today. I had a couple of unrelated synth things go batty. ;-)

Unfortunately that made no difference.

Interestingly I booted it up now after a night where it has been shut down.

Worked perfectly for about 1-2 min then volume gradually started to fade, with occasional 'quivers' of the volume level where it goes louder for a fraction of a second then low.  The quivers happened every 10-15 seconds then settle down until the volume is low.

It's back to very quiet again.  I'm convinced this is a hardware fault.

I’ll try to take a video the next time I boot from cold.

That’s deeply unfortunate.  I take it you’ve disconnected all MIDI sources to rule out the possibility that it’s responsing to some external signal turning the master volume down?

I have.  Just power and audio cables / headphones

I just updated the OS finally and I did notice on certain presets the volumes seem lower, in some cases it’s the oscillator volume in some cases it’s the whole patch. Specifically the patch Hamonized or whatever it’s called, I didn’t check the factory slot to see a comparison but it did seem quite low. On the patch Electric Guitar the oscillator volume, even when maxed out seemed low but the samples were a healthy volume. I created some new patches and all seems well with those.

Oh and I did notice on one of my own patches the Wurlitzer seemed out of tune. I reprogramming it and it seemed okay after. Hmm.

Unfortunately that is not the issue I’m having.

The volume is very low for all sounds regardless of settings / init patches etc.

The volume also ‘quivers’ and occasionally becomes very loud.
