Audio from Prophet in the wrong place
« on: March 02, 2019, 10:03:13 AM »
Hi guys,

Not sure what I'm dong wrong (not doubt its user error) but when I record audio from the Prophet 12 VST in my DAW (Presonus Studio One Pro 3) it's putting the audio slightly ahead of where it's supposed to be.

I've attached a screengrab so hopefully you can see what I mean, the waveform of the synth recording is slightly ahead of where the midi notes on the Prophet VST channel are on the grid.

Yes I know I could drag the audio over to where it should actually be starting but I want to understand whats causing the problem so I don't always have to move the audio.

I'm sure it's something obviously but your help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Alex

I believe that it is a glitch in the DAW/Computer itself.  I am still running Sonar, and from time to time it happens.  It is a clock/timing issue.  Was never able to find it.  Sometimes it would resolve by rebooting the computer.  I don't run the Prophet by VST  but I have other software (EastWest) running VST and it occasionally happens - same thing.  It's very puzzling and annoying.

Thanks for the reply.

Glad someone else has experienced this ....but its going to really bug me if I can't fix it hahaha.

Maybe I'll focus more of settings on Studio One rather than the VST or synth....I noticed it does it with my OB-6 module too so makes sense it's something to do with the DAW.

Ok so I worked out how to get the audio to record in the right place.

In the Soundtower VST midi menu there's a 'Delay Setting' under the Latency options. I've put a 10ms delay in which is putting the recorded audio in the right place.

The strange thing is I could swear I was messing with this delay setting on Sunday but it wasn't having any effect.

Oh well, at least it's doing it now!
