Rev 2 vs. 08 Envelopes

Rev 2 vs. 08 Envelopes
« on: February 09, 2019, 11:22:53 PM »
Does anyone know if the speed/shape of the envelopes are different or sound different at all between the rev 2 and the 08?  I have an 08 and I'm not too fond of the envelopes.  I love "fast" or "snappy" and "bouncy" envelopes like those of the SH-101 or Juno 6/60 in my opinion.  Any other DSI/Sequential synths that might have the envelopes I'm looking for?

They are the same because the REV2 is backward compatible, and 08 patches sound the same on REV2.

You can use tricks to make the envelopes mor snappy, just route an envelopes output back to its own decay parameter in the mod matrix... Positive modulation gives you a more downward logarithmic snappy curve, negative amount makes it the opposite.
If you need me, follow the shadows...

Just adding to this, lets say you mod the decay all of the way up at +127, the decay knob itself may not seem to work anymore.

This is what the DC mod source is for :)

A couple weeks ago I posted some info about Amp Envelope Attack Times and Shape:
https://forum.sequential.com/index.php/topic,3203.0.html

Might be useful to you?   The Amp Attack shape is convex/snappy by default... and a minimum attack time of ~3-4ms at 0 value... not sure how it compares to P08.

That is true... But I found that you can reliably figure out what the max modulation value is before the decay snaps... If you have a decay set to say; 64, then the absolute max you can modulate the envelope decay with itself is the same value (64)... Anything above 64 will snap the decay... If you just keep that in mind you are fine  :)

Oh really? I'll trust your experience on this one. Could you tell me the setting for absolute maximum snap that could be achieved with the envelope modulation its own decay?

Or is the maximum snap setting a modulation that matches whatever the decay is currently set at?

That thread of yours really should be pin-marked to the top of the forum, by forum moderators, for easy access. Huge cred to you for the time and effort sharing all that information, creativespiral!

Didn't want to clog your thread with comments, I hope the author of this thread don't mind me clogging this one instead, if so my apologies!   :)

Done. Thanks for pointing it out.
