Replicate Strings Ensemble OB-8

Hey all –

II'm struggling to replicate the string presets that appears in the factory bank of the Oberheim OB-8. I'm getting very close, but somehow it lacks something. Maybe someone can help me out.

Here is the sound preset (starts at 4:59):

Best regards,

In general:

- Two detuned sawtooths, or a sawtooth and a moderately rapid PWM
- A moderately deep vibrato at a moderately fast rate
- Very little or no filter modulation from the envelope
- A moderately slow attack, and a moderately long release in the VCA envelope
- A bit of filter key amount to slightly brighten the upper end

If possible, give us an audio example of what you've made so far, and we can guide you from there.

Hey Sacred Synthesis! Thank you very much for your reply, for your help also. I'm a big fan of your music.

I recorded anything in five seconds to show you my bad approach to the sound that I'm looking for.

Best,
John.

Thanks, John.  Your patch is pretty close.  Add the vibrato and you'll be almost there.
