Pro 2 not responding to Midi CC messages

Pro 2 not responding to Midi CC messages
« on: February 19, 2016, 03:19:09 AM »
Hi,
I'm using the latest Beta and my pro 2 will not respond to midi CC for Filter 1 Cutoff or OSc 2 Pitch. I have the Global page set to receive midi CC's (via USB), not using NRPN (ableton doesn't send them anyway). Im sending the CC from Ableton live for a clip (nothing fancy here). The Pro2 receives/plays notes midi properly. Global midi channel.
Any ideas?

Hi,

I just tried Filter 1 cutoff (CC 102) and Osc 2 Pitch (CC 75) from Live here and it works fine.

Are any of the CCs working?

Hi, thanks a lot, it's working with CC102 and CC75! But where did you find those informations?
On the manual Filter1 cutoff is CC95, Osc 2 pitch CC68. So those informations about CC numbers are wrong on the manual, and i still can't find the CC for Sliders position/pressure... DSI please help me !

Mmmm, looks like the manual is wrong!

To find out what CC to use I just looked at what the Pro2 was sending when I changed those controls. I used an app called MidiMonitor for the mac but you could do the same using Live by recording a clip and looking at what CC info was recorded.

Here are the sliders:

Slider 1 Pos = CC14
Slider 1 Pressure = CC16
Slider 2 Pos = CC15
Slider 3 Pressure = CC17

Thanks a lot, i going to collect the CC by this way :) It's can be great that DSI make an addendum for the CC list!

I have also a quite long series of minor remarks for the manual. Where do you prefer to get them posted? Here in the forum as a new thread? New topic in Tech Support? Existing topic I had opened with Andy on Tech Support?
Best regards!

I have some too. So if there's any interest we can add them up together.

There's always interest in correcting typos in the manual, especially for MIDI implementation. Please email our dedicated support channel with your findings: support (at) davesmithinstruments.com
Thanks!

@dslsynth and goodweather: Maybe we can share what we've found so far via PM before we send anything in. That way we could merge everything into one document and also allow for a bit of double-checking.

Great idea, Paul Dither! What I am doing is generating a full set of sysex tables directly from the OS sources (and a bit of dslsynth codery) so its difficult to merge as of currently.

There are other options than merging via a PM. One is to keep it in public and simply let the thread starter merge it into one document. Another option is to send it directly to DSI support and let them do the typo merging (I am sure they will love us for that).

I guess what I had in mind was just to bundle everything before sending it off individually, which would make it easier to deal with.

A dedicated thread is another option too. Would you like me to create one that's exclusively dedicated to that job?

If you have the time for it then please do so. My only feedback is new stuff I am generating and possibly some obvious ones in the sequence part of the existing sysex tables.

Concerning CC messages I realized that filter routing and filter state of filter 2 (LP/NOTCH/HP) are not supported by standard CC messages (they are supported by NRPN messages).
There are still some gaps in the assignment list that could be used for these parameters (11-13, 105, ...). I really miss these two parameters when I'm using cirklon to sculpt the sound with its internal pots.
Would be great if you could implement this with the next update.

Thanx in advance!

Seriously 1 year later and still no midi CC chart in manual that's correct? Addendum doesn't have it either. Just wasted an entire night banging head against wall only to google this thread in disgust... Typical DSI. Not a shocker...Hi Carson.
