how to get new LCD for my PEK ? Or make it brighter

Greetings -

My PEK's LCD looks dim to me.  Mine is the only PE / PEK I've seen in person, so I've not been able to compare it to another PEK, so I can't say for sure.

The LCD is clearly legible, but not all that bright.

Also, it's a bit brighter on the left side than the right.  Not a lot, but you can see a slight brightness difference.

Any thoughts on how to get a new one, or boost the brightness?

I've already adjusted the contrast to 18, which seems about right.  Now if only it were brighter....

It's brighter on one side because the LED that provides the backlight is mounted on that side, so the uneven lighting is inherent to the design. If the light is still on, it's hard to imagine replacing it would get much brighter.
