Problems with OS 1.5.5

Problems with OS 1.5.5
« on: November 12, 2018, 09:10:21 AM »
Hello,

I tried to update to OS 1.5.5. Now when I do the update the counter is counting down, after that the OB-6 is restarting but it still shows 1.3.7 on my screen...in the OS 1.5.5 thread you guys mentioned:  it will display as "1.4.1" after the update. What do I do wrong? Previous updates just worked.
I did it over USB, tried out midi too but the countdown is going way to fast on both options. I always used the electron C6 software but I also tried Midi ox as a third option. Setting the buffers but same result....still showing 1.3.7

Try the update with DIN MIDI if you have a MIDI interface. If that doesn't work, please contact our dedicated support.

Thanx for your answer, I tried midi already, maybe it wasn't too clear in my openingpost. So what does dedicated support mean? And how do I contact it?

I did another try over MIDI DIN with another interface RME FIREFACE UC and that gave me an error in Midi OX telling me there is not enough memory...so I doubled the values of the output buffer to 2048 and now it finished the transfer. Countdown is still running, fingers crossed it worked now.

Still showing 1.3.7, is it possible that you guys made a mistake in the description and that 1.3.7 is the correct number?

Press Write and power on to get in midi recovery mode, try sending again here over midi din. That worked.

Glad you got it sorted out. Dedicated support is our direct Technical Support, available via email: support (at) sequential.com

If you ever require fast and accurate support directly from Sequential, this is the only way to ensure you receive it.

I would have the same problem, but with this advice, it works.

Thanks for that!

Other than this issue, how have people been finding 1.5.5 bug/stability-wise? Just got an OB-6 Module and am trying to decide if I should upgrade now or wait until the next non-beta release.

Since I'm not using Polychain mode with multiple OB6 Modules, I'm sticking with firmware 1.2.0 which came with my unit and has been working perfectly fine for over a year now.
I had tried later revisions, and the LED brightness inconsistency has annoyed me more than anything else. I've been told by Sequential Support that since my unit is an early hardware version, the LED problem cannot be fixed in later firmware (although with the 1.2.0 firmware the LEDs all show exactly the same brightness all around, so that's why I'll stick with that one).
