That's the point of the basic patch

Joking aside, just save your preferred starting point to a particular patch number and start from there every time you want to make a new one.

Something I like to do instead of going to the global settings to apply the basic patch I do the following:

Hold down the left LATCH button and press HOLD.

This will revert your program to the Basic Program.  It isn't written yet, so don't worry about this command overwriting the program you are on.  You will still need to save it once modified.

The first thing I did when I got the P12 was to turn all the user presets to the Basic Program.  I also created a sysex with all user presets as Basic Programs in case I wanted to return to a clean system.  I've attached this sysex to the thread below.  Keep in mind it will also reset all your Playlists too.
