My REV2 demo

My REV2 demo
« on: September 10, 2018, 05:18:29 AM »
If anyone is interested I posted a song i made last night using just the REV2 (and drum samples). There is NO eq, on any of the tracks. Only a little compression on the bass (waves pulteq eq). I've heard some say the rev2 doesn't have the best bass sounds, so i decided to base the song around one bass preset.

Only 6 different presets were used.

Very nice track indeed!  If anyone is interested, I’ll post our SoundCloud link here...pretty much every track is all Rev2 except the drums, and occasionally the Moog Subsequent 37 is used.  But every tune bass line is from the Rev2 except the tune “Kill the Pain” it’s bassline and midrange on top of the bass is Moog Subsequent 37.

Have a listen and thanks!

Lots of talented people here !

Here's a small demo of the Sequential Prophet REV2 (preset demo sequence) with added Sequential OB6, Minimoog D, and Univox SR-95 drum machine. Perfect for slow dancing with a girlfriend...  ;)
Enjoy !

Very nice, and (as with all the other links on this page) it's really refreshing to hear something from the Rev2 that isn't a 20 minute pad soundscape.

Hi there
I realize, since using my Rev2 more and more, that there is not very often a reason to use one of my other synths. Nearly all of my latest tracks are made just with the rev2 (exept drums).
Also my new one is pure Rev2 (exept the drums):

Thanks for sharing everyone! I'm really enjoying these sounds and music!

Getting inspired to do some more interesting things with my Rev2...been in a bit of a rut patch-wise.

Very nice. I’m one of those who said the REV2 was weak on bass but have changed my mind since ;).
The REV2 is a good synth no doubt about that.
I’m curious about your production workflow can you tell us a bit more about this?

For god sake I like that demo so looking forward for your next tracks now  :)

Nice tracks, everyone!
Is none of you using the Rev2 for "drums" or percussive sounds?
And are you programming notes in a DAW and sending to Rev2 or do you play "live" on the Rev2 and record audio?

Thank you so much!
I really like the bass sounds of the rev2. If you want a really hard bass, synths like the pulse2 can do that better, but the bass of the rev2 in my opinion is a bit softer and integrates very well into the mix.
My workflow is very simple: In most cases I´m building the beat with the TR-8 and record it with Cubase. Than I record the synth tracks (95% Rev2 :)). Sometimes I use Valhalla Room as an additional reverb, a bit eq and comp.

You can make any classic analog drum sound (bass, snare, clap, hihat, cowbell, toms) in excellent quality with the rev2.
I sometimes also use these sounds (as samples). The only thing is the workflow: I realised, that for me it is much easier to build the beat with the TR-8 because I can edit the drum sounds while building the beat instead of first editing the drum sounds, sampling them and then building the beat.
Actually, the toms in "etwas glänzt" are Rev2 sounds :) (2:24, 3:06 ff)

The answer to your second question: I usually play the Rev2, record the midi notes, quantize them and record audio afterwards.

Small synth jam with mostly the Prophet REV2 (along with the OB6 and Minimoog D), of a Kraftwerk flavour with added JMJ sprinkle.
The REV2 does the Taurus style bass, chords, and melody. The syncopated bass line is the OB6.
Enjoy! Comments, good or bad ( I can take it  ;)) are welcome.

Great track. I ran through your Soundcloud, there are nice sounds over there!

I'm still on the fence (well, for several, several months actually) regarding the number of voices I should buy. Just for reference, in this track "Swapped", did you use stacked patches for the chords? or 16-voice unisson for the bass?
