Forum Issues?
« on: September 08, 2018, 10:34:14 PM »
Hi Guys,

Anyone else having troubles with the forum?

It started for me around a week ago when I couldn't log in, I also couldn't get the forum to email me a new password.

I contacted support and Carsen changed the password for me and then I could get in.

What I am seeing now is the background image is not being cached and loads very slowly on each page, say 5-20 seconds. It does the same in Chrome and Safari.

I also get very slow ping times:

PING forum.sequential.com (198.49.77.114): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 198.49.77.114: icmp_seq=0 ttl=49 time=119.024 ms
64 bytes from 198.49.77.114: icmp_seq=1 ttl=49 time=117.068 ms
64 bytes from 198.49.77.114: icmp_seq=2 ttl=49 time=116.750 ms

Is anyone else seeing anything strange?

Cheers

Andy

Was it after the name change to Sequential?

https://forum.sequential.com

I’m not having issues here.

The thing that sticks out to me is the size of the thing. 1.9M? Here's what I've got:

Code: [Select]
Saving to: ‘forum_background.pn’

Obviously so if forgetting the trailing "g" of the filename. I get 1956483 bytes for "forum_background.png" and 2441 bytes for "forum_background.pn".

Forum usually loads fairly fast for me though it sometimes seems slow(er). Browser cache issue?

The forum background image is quite visible and can be studied using standard browser features (view background image etc). Background image seems to be loading last and yes it does slow down the forum a bit depending on available bandwidth. Suggestion for improvement: "007" instead of "006". ;)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the info.

I think there might be a routing issue from the UK.

I'm not a web expert I think setting it as cacheable might help.

I'm on the iPad here and it is cacheing the image, super speedy.

Looks like a safari issue on my Mac then.

So this morning I did have forum issues.  I only got a message stating that the traffic quota had been exceeded.  Working fine now.

The forum issue I have is not being able to get onto Sequential's Facebook page.  I presume it's being re-designed for the new name change, but it's been down for some time now.  Clicking on the link results in this:

"The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed"

The FB page got renamed:

https://www.facebook.com/sequentialLLC/

They haven't approved our business name change yet so it'll still say DSI when you get there, but the page is still intact.
