Replacing Factory Banks
« on: February 02, 2016, 10:40:15 PM »
Ok apologies if this has been covered in other topics...
Is it now possible  in V1.3 to replace the original factory banks with the newer factory banks from the module or from your user banks?
Ive uploaded the newer factory sound banks into my user banks but want to swap them  out with the old factory banks...
sorry if this is an idiotic question...

As far as I am aware, you can't ever change the factory bank sounds.  They may change or be updated via firmware updates though.  I think some were changed during the 1.1 update?  More experienced users can correct me if I'm wrong.

You can overwrite the factory banks, sending the newer module factory bank sysex files to your P12 should do the job.

It is also possible to send user banks to the factory banks but this is a bit more complex, the sysex files need editing or you need to use the software editor from here: http://www.soundtower.com/prophet12/page.html

The factory sysex bank with the FM patches overwrote one of my user banks, and there's even a warning on http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/prophet-12-factory-sounds/ about it.

It is possible to over write single sound in the factory banks via the sound tower editor.

thanks, didn't know this...
actually you can overwrite more of them, if you select more from library and import (from bank manager).

just name in PlugSE will remain from original, because you can't replace it.

It is definitely possible to replace factory presets with the Soundtower P12 Editor.
I have (had)  :D one with corruptet factory presetsm about 25 an all four banks.
Strange names and sometimes erratic sounds too.
The Soundtower editor did the job perfectly (one can overwrite every single patch).
In fact it even doubles your memory space from 400 to 800 presets.
Great work and its worth every single buck.

Internally in the P12?

Depends how you look at it. You have 400 user and 400 factory. So if you have the ability to save into the factory presets you could call it 800 user presets but then zero factory presets.

"program data dump" on page 84 in the manual  pretty much explained for me how to do but might not be obvious for everyone  ;-)  heh
