OB-6 Music

This is entirely OB6. I used a midi base track arrangement (MJ Starke) from the piece "Chi Vuoi Veder" by Renaissance composer Claudio Monteverdi for the trumpet, trombone, and flute. I added in choirs, plucked pieces and other sounds thruout. Strymon Big Sky used for some additional effects.

Hey Folks,

here's some 80's inspired german NDW stuff.

All sounds from the OB-6 except the drums (and voice). ;-)

Do you like it?

I'm always impressed how fast and precise the workflow of sound design works on the OB-6. I LOVE YOU, OB-6!  :-*

Best,
ouzo

Love the lead sound at 1.09!

UnderWay

The only sounds NOT made by the OB-6 are, as far as I remember: the drums, the pipe organ smoothing the low end, and some strings near the end. It's a song with a very basic melody - I'm just a self-trained hobbyist enjoying the OB-6 in my spare time  8)

Here's a track I did using the OB-6 as the main lead sound and also has the Tempest and Tetra featured.

Showing some more love for OB-6 with a dedicated video.  ALL source sounds from the OB-6 including percussion with minimal effect from MPC. Cheers.

I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but I googled how to get bell/chimes from a synth, and none of their ways were working. But I took a few ideas and pretty much stumbled on a chime that sounds exactly like a doorbell chime. Forgive my amateurish descriptions of settings.

I also don't know how to post recordings yet, but I'm working on it.

Using only VCO2 (as it has the better triangle wave):
-FREQ full clockwise
-Detune centered
-Waveform full counter-clockwise
-KEYBOARD button on

MIXER:
-VCO1 minimum
-VCO2 maximum
Sub Octave full counter-clockwise

FILTER:
-FREQ at 2 o'clock (vary narrow range here where it works. Turning only a tiny amount changes the chime)
-RESONANCE at full clockwise
-NOTCH full counter-clockwise
-TRACK half or full, on or off. Adds a subtle nuance.

ENVELOPES:
-Both ATTACK knobs full counter-clockwise
-Top DECAY at 12 o'clock, bottom DECAY at 2
-SUSTAIN both knobs full counter-clockwise
-RELEASE top knob at 3 o'clock, bottom knob at 2

AMOUNT:
-Top knob at 2 o'clock (another very narrow range to get the chime sound), bottom at full clockwise

No X-Modulation, no VCO1, no LFO, don't even need effects as it has a natural reverberation, or ringing out.
Now I just need to learn the notes to "Tubular Bells," and "Carol of the Bells." Just in time for Christmas.

Is there a section such as, "How to make this sound?"

Nice one. Is it the Pro 2 doing the "slide gtr?"

Thanks Ant ,  yes it is the Pro 2 doing those bends.   For a fretless bass I used the Linn Instrument into the OB6  on MPE setting.  It allowed for some subtle bending.

Here's a small clip I recorded a few years back when trying out cross mod and other features. Not exactly enjoyable listening ;) but it shows part of the potential of this synth (there are some nice sounding chords at the end though). This is before the vintage knob OS. All internal FX, no post processing whatsoever.

Bought an OB-6 a bit over a year ago. I had read from other users that it was impossible to make terrible sounds with it, so I was a bit underwhelmed initially, haha. The polymod section required a bit of time getting used to. Now I love the synth dearly, it sounds absolutely beautiful.

I made a variety of different patches that are meant to sound a bit off/broken and recorded a short album. It's inspired by Italian horror movies of the 70s/80s, although a lot more simplistic.

There's some Moog Sub 37 on track 2 and 10, the rest is OB-6. Also, tried to avoid using FX as much as possible, so it might sound a bit dry.

Another pairing of Pro 2 with OB6.   This is mainly Pro2, but you can hear when the OB6 comes in with a sequence.  I have a pad on it that you can hear entering at 2:40 that is choir like perhaps.

Perhaps a  little bit different side to the OB6.  I played along to the delay to this squishy patch, then added in the voicy parts later.  The deep bass drum/percussion is Vermona MK2.

Fired up the OB6 for making a lush pad.  Helping out is the Behringer 2600 for flutes, cello/bass.  And my faithful sound effects standby P12, for the birds and church bell.

My first OB-6 inspired track. The verse sequences and main chorus line is the OB-6. Vintage mode pretty cranked in the chorus. Verses has some Elektron AR dual VCO for the whole note bass notes:

Very nice pads, indeed.  The opening one sounded quite PEK-like.  And I liked the trilling flutes, too.  There was a soft wail or howl at the beginning.  What was that?  I get the sense that there was some sort of message or idea behind this piece.

Really nice. The "B" tracks do sound good, has to be said! The whole track had a Vibe.
