Question regarding the step sequencer's "Key Step" mode

Question regarding the step sequencer's "Key Step" mode
« on: August 14, 2017, 05:15:22 AM »
Hi

I have a question for all owners of the REV2.
When the step sequencer is set to "Key Step" mode, every new key trigger advances the sequencer one step. So effectively every new note gets new modulation values when it is triggered. But what does that mean for already held notes in a polyphonic context? Do they retain their modulation values or do they all jump to new values when a new key is triggered?

The manual isn't quite clear on this.

Well logically it will reproduce what you've 'programmed'. So, if you've set up your gated sequencer with the 4 channels, and something different on each channel (and step), then each time you press a key your sequence would advance and play whatever is on that step, including any modulation sources I would say.

The step sequencer is a "per voice" modulation source. So the answer is: no, the values for the held notes should not jump around (as long as you don't run out of voices). I should say I only used keystep mode in unison. Seems tricky to me to use polyphonic...
