Recommendation For Video Rec.
« on: July 11, 2017, 10:48:25 PM »
Does anyone have any good tips for recording a set and capturing it on video? Ideally I'd like to record the audio straight from the mixer while I record the video so I dont have to stitch the two together.

Does the quality of the recording matter? Like free streaming software could probably do this as you can record your screen and the audio incoming whilst using one of the windows in the streaming software for the camera.

OBS or XSplit probably do i think OSB you can set the quality then just record it. Might be worth a look for free anyway OBS is pretty good and configurable!

Well I want to mount a camera above my gear and record the audio straight out of the mixer directy into the camera. I do not use the computer so screen sharing would be dry;)

I use this:

with this:

on my Mac
Simultaneous recording and video/screen capture of my Live performance through a mastering chain inside Ableton Live and everything's sweet!
Here's an example:

Thanks Yorgos! What camera do you use for capturing the gear? I have been looking at GoPro stuff. I am also planning uon upgrading my phone with the release of either MS Surface Phone or Iphone8. Both should be ok with video in optimal lighting but I want something that is great at low level lighting.

Well streaming software is built to take a camera input and record it, it was just a thought. it will record any audio from the pc, you just create a series of boxes then any inputs, screens or images (jpg etc) you just layer on the pc in the order you want them displayed, so say you wanted a black border you would just make a screen size black jpg and put it at the bottom of the display list then your camera next in the list, then if you want text make it a jpg with no background and layer on top, its quite simple and not difficult but very flexible and free.

You could easily make video like Yorgos with it i'm sure.

It might not be the solution you are looking for. Like i said just a thought but if you don't find what you need don't dismiss it!

edit - I might be misunderstanding exactly what you want to do and what you mean by screensharing might be dry? If you can trigger the stuff that Yorgos says from Abelton though that does sound pretty neat!

No worries bro;) People of course dj with software (I used to). I meant screen streaming not sharing. I want the video to display what I am doing with my hands. Yes I could get into streaming too but I initially am looking for a hardware setup (basically camera and mount) that can record video in low lighting and decent software to edit the video (thanks Yorgos fr the tip). As for the camera, it appears that GoPro is the way to ahem go;) Thanks again tonYorgos for the upcoming gear announcement from gopro.
