Best reverb/effect for Prophet 12
« on: April 22, 2017, 12:23:13 AM »
Hi Guys,
I know that the prohet 12 has 4 delay line but are they really able to do great reverb, chorus ans so on...Would it be better tu use them as pure effect in the program you create and add a module or a pedal after it? If yes, which one? What do you use?
Thanks
Sincerely

The delay lines are interesting to create ensemble chorus effects, but the reberbs I created sounds metallic, then I use external FX, a TC-Electronic M-One XL.

More recently I bought a Strymon Big Sky... Fantastic unit...

I also have a Strymon Big Sky which is my go-to reverb for the Prophet 12, it's amazing, seems to fill out the P12-sound with a lush richness. Maybe the reason i love my P12 so much is more the Bigsky's doing than the synth itself.
While it can do great classic room/spring/plate/hall sounds, i tend to mostly use the swell, bloom, cloud & shimmer algorythms for sounddesign, and use a second reverb unit for other sounds in the mix that need a more traditional spatial ambiance. (lately those are usually plugins from the Valhalla-series)

I've never bothered to try and use the P12's delays for reverb/chorus.  Having 4 delays is way too much fun to play with to give any up to do something a cheap effect rack can do better.  I run my P12 into a TC Electronics M350 or even the internal reverb on my Roland VS-1880 recorder.

Hi,
Ok, thanks Guys, I have a TC M350 and also an M-One XL in my studio, I will try it. For my Prophet 08, I have an Evemtide H9 and yes, I tend to use more Shimmer reverb kind of for it. Thanks again.

For recording, I use the plug ins through Sonar for reverb/chorus.  Live, I have a Lexicon MX-200.  I'll join the "chorus" (pardon the pun)  ;D  that the delays are better used for delay effects rather than reverb/chorus.
