Here are a couple of factory sounds I've programmed:

I think, specs aside. The sound is excellent.

Any pics of the special edition with the panel down?

Here are samples of the Pro 3 presets that James Terris designed. Not performances, just quick references of the sounds.

I'd like to personally un-thank you Paul, as your sound demos just cost me a pretty penny and I wasn't even in the market for a mono (or paraphonic for that matter)!  >:( Thing sounds killer.

Wavestate pre-order canceled in place of the Pro-3.

After studying the specs, and listening to the demos, this PRO3 will be my last synth, I will be ordering the SE edition because the tilting of the panel will be crucial to me since I want it placed above and beyond my Quantum.

The ladder filter sounds moogish enough to my liking, and the distinct OB filter is just such a lovely addition... All of the other small irritations I had with the REV2 seem to have been removed... LFO slew rate, the oscillators do have a per voice vca obviously, the sequencer is now useful, and not just a gimmick, more distortion and saturation options, mod matrix at audio rates and since there is no layering, the interface is much more hands on with one function per knob on almost all parameters.

It seems I will be on the Sequential wagon anyway...

I think I'm going to sell my Sub 37 for one. Soon as I heard some of those Tangerine Dream style sequences for INHALT I was really impressed.

According to the specs, the SE version is a whopping 11 pounds more.

And I'm going to have to replace those ugly hubcap looking octave knobs at very least.

Hahahaha, that's really saying something!

I like it.

Ditto.

I am glad to see something so close to a successor to the Evolver arrive, this time with wave morphing (woohoo).  If it's 'derivative' in design, then so are most all synths.

Really interesting seeing the reaction in YouTube and Facebook. Everyone seems divided but something I find really interesting, people are complaining that a mono synth doesn’t have four to five octaves but at the same time defending the 64 voiced Wavestate for having three octaves.

Consider these mod specs:

171 mod destinations for the 32 mod slots... that's an obscene amount of modulation routing capability!

Four loopable DADSR envelopes, three LFOs and the 16x16x4 sequencer.

This is going to be capable of some extremely deep sound design and modular sequencing. It's like having an expansive modular system, but with patch memory to instantly recall all your mod setups... and of course it plays nice with other CV modules. The more I consider the specs, the more excited I'm getting.

One thing I would like to see, maybe in an OS update if possible, is perhaps 32 more wavetables of 16 waveforms that could be user waveforms, a bit like how the Evolver had some user waveforms... users will allways end up wanting at least a few of their own wavetables going, and it would greatly enhance an already impressive synth... it need not be a huge amount of slots, just about 16 could go a long way I would say so you can get those few personal wavetables of yours going... now I am saying this generally in anyones interrest because personally it is not essential to me as my Quantum will kick the PRO3 wavetable synthesis way out of the waters anytime, but as a stand alone synth, I think that such a feature would greatly enhance the selling point for many.

By the way I am a bit perplexed as to the paraphony when the three oscillator has one that is digital... I would believe that having all oscillators identical would be essential, otherwise one “voice” will allways sound a bit different... and when you start to use waveshapes on the digital oscillator, then it would be kind of unusable? I wonder how close the digital oscillator sound when it has the same settings as the two analog ones.

I never tried thi s myself, so maybe it is more useful than I may think... but it does make me wonder...

I wonder how close the digital oscillator sound when it has the same settings as the two analog ones.

This is a very simply paraphonic patch that features a sawtooth wave for all oscillators:

https://soundcloud.com/pauldither/paraphonic-prophet?in=pauldither/sets/sequential-pro-3

But just like with the Pro 2, the real paraphonic fun lies in using different settings for each oscillator, which in a way allows for more timbral polyphony than any conventional poly synth could. In that sense I'd say that any paraphonic synth is far superior to any standard polyphonic synth in terms of possible timbral complexity per note.

This patch features different waveform settings for each oscillator:

https://soundcloud.com/pauldither/transcendental-pad?in=pauldither/sets/sequential-pro-3

The sequencer is used in gated mode that won't reset the sequence with any new keystroke to only control modulation parameters over time, not note values.

I get that playing chords will mask some things, but what if you play a decaying sawtooth oscillator with only one note at a time that will let the tails ring out? this is when you would be hearing the digital oscillator stand out? this is not possible with ordinary paraphony since there is only one vca, but as I understand it, like on PRO2, ,the PRO3 has a vca for each oscillator?

If I didn’t already own the Pro 2 I would definitely be looking to buy the Pro 3. I don’t think the Pro 3 offers enough over the Pro 2 though to own both?
