Did you see the Dave Smith Q&A from this years Moogfest? The impression was that they were working on something new already and giving the timing my guess is that it was the R2 module. So not all that much of a leak if you ask me. Oh and Dave talked about the Prophet VS having noisy oscillators so maybe that is the basis for The Next NAMM Machine (TM)? ;-)

The DSI guys have been very tight-lipped about a Rev2 Module here, in spite of our pressing them, and no one has come close to confirming the existence of such a module as did the guy in that video.  I understood Dave's Moogfest comments to refer to something else.

Now why wouldn't Dave say instead that the Evolver's digital oscillators are noisy, rather than those of the VS?  That would certainly be a more current way of stating the same.

Excellent!  Not a rack, but a genuine wonderfully knobby module.  So, the Prophet '08 has been fully replaced.

So is this going to jeopardize your Prophet 12 plans?

No.  The more plans, the merrier.  I've already got one PEK listed on Craigslist to finance a P12 Keyboard.  When the Rev2 has reached maturity - hopefully in May or June - then I'll begin selling the Prophet '08(s) to finance the Rev2(s).  If all goes well, the end of it all should leave me with a PEK-PER pair, a P12 Keyboard-Module pair, a Rev2 Keyboard-Module pair, and a second Rev2 Keyboard.  I may keep one P'08 Module to use for bass, instead of the Evolver Desktop.  It's all just a matter of time.

This shouldn't affect my overall sound too much, but only broaden it a bit and increase the polyphony - both happy improvements.

So basically a sort of "best of" times two (well, three with regard to the Rev2). Did you ever consider the Toraiz AS-1 as a bass synth?

Right.  And yes, I did consider the Toraiz, but I'd need two or three of them.  A P'08 Module in Layer Mode would give me four oscillators, four voices, two timbres, stereo, and easy programmability.  That's getting close to ideal.

Yeah, that's not worth the hassle then.

Is it "times two", or do we just have "one half"? :)

Your "best of" plan sounds wonderful.
