Prophet 08 Soundtower editor: Worth it?

Prophet 08 Soundtower editor: Worth it?
« on: March 15, 2017, 08:54:36 PM »
Hi all!

First of all I have to say since today I am the very happy owner of a Prophet 08 PE! I have been fiddling around with some patches and so far loving it! However, I used to have a Mopho with the soundtower editor included. It worked quite shitty (for example patches would not save), just as I read a lot about Soundtower editors here and there. However, it worked well seeing what values are in my patches and a nice oversight. I also read these same things about the editor for Prophet 08 and so my question is: is it worth the 50$?? Im really someone who likes to work 'in the box'.

As someone who was in your place looking for a good editor I purchased it because I didn't like the other ones and it does the job, nothing great and since you're familiar with it you should know what to expect already. I would recommend Synthet...you can try out the demo and see how you like it before buying.  I was a beta tester for it and also did a tutorial video on it for Alexey which is at the link below. Great guy with great ideas. He's currently working on a VST for it. You won't be disappointed.

I have two banks of presets (a .p8 file) that I saved using the librarian in the Soundtower Prophet 8 editor, but after changing my computer, can no longer open them. If someone has any suggestions on how to convert them to sysex files (or could even do if for me!) that would be a very, very nice.
