NEW SOUNDS - 288 of them : )
« on: March 11, 2017, 10:12:10 AM »
Hi  :-[ :-[ :-[

I'm aware there is a sound design/patch exchange topic.
Though this is how I try to make a bit of a living so need a bit more exposure, hope you can understand.

You'll find my name in the Prophet 12 and Pro 2 manual under sound design.
I've also recently been working with Korg on their factory sounds, a UK producer pack for the Minilogue.

I have spent almost a year working with the Tempest, not solidly of course, things have got in the way...but anyway, I'm done.

Here they are:

128 new synth sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NziPLnX5Do8

160 new drum sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NuhfjR_TqE

Hope you like them!

These and everything else I do independently can be found here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/psalm37audio/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

My website is here: www.timmantle.com/psalm37.html

What is the format of the files?
1) Individual sounds
2) Grouping of sounds
3) Sounds nested within a beat
4) Sounds nested within a beat, nested within a project

Also, if the sounds are nested within a beat, did you program the FX Sliders for each sound?

Thanks

Hi,

sorry for the delayed response, I need to set up email notifications.
The answer is, they are exported as individual sounds, sysex format.
I also exported them as a group of synths and a group of Drums, to give the option of however you want to import them.
As most struggle with space on their Tempests, I expect most people will be importing individually.

Most synth sounds have mod wheel changes, not slider changes as (especially with pads) they are designed to be played with a keyboard.

Hope this helps,
Tim

Looks promising.

A quick recent Tempest owner question: how do you export individual sounds from the Tempest to individual sysex files ?

I know I can do it one by one but I'm sure there is another way to do it in one go...

Off the top of my head.
When you hit save/load and cycle down to export sound...
The next page (where it lists the folder and individual sounds) you can turn the far right dial above the oled display either left or right and it can highlight the entire folder and enable you to export a folder, project or beat etc in one go.

I'm not by my Tempest right now so this is ballpark direction but it's definitely possible so good luck!

Is it wrong of me to ask you how you made a particular sound in your video without buying them all?

I think i have other patches similar i have reverse engineered to know its to do with the saw waves but your version is awesome, its the second synth sound on the drum video, kind of a detuned lead sound, i understand if u dont want to give tips on how to achieve it without buying them, which i might do when i have some funds, im trying to save for a ms20 atm though and am falling short as it is :( My Akeys just wont budge itself lol!!!

Off the top of my head (because my Tempest is 50 miles away) I would say it's simply just a saw on Osc 1 & 2 they're probably fine tuned, Osc 1 -6, Osc 2 +6 and then one of those Oscillators will have a slow (maybe around 30) LF0 rate attached to it's frequency. Only an LFO amount of about 3.

After that there would be about 15-30mins of hard refining to make it worth purchasing.

Thanks man appreciate the answer! I really want to be able to build better synth patches myself which is why I ask. I'll have a go and see if I can make something great as well!

Heres a question. Didn't even see this topic. Thanks for bumping this.

So OP, can all these synt and drum sounds all live in the tempest all at once? I mean if these were the only sounds installed?

I think the sound file limit is 650 according to the DSI website.

Hey man,

Love the sounds, well done!  Will almost certainly be buying them in the very near future, but just a quick question:  did you export them as individual sounds (which will import into the Tempest's RAM) or individual files (which will import onto the Tempest's hard drive)?  Or do you supply both of those?

Cheers, J :)

Good question, they take up space in the sound folder when imported... So they wete exported as sounds?
