Sync problem with Pro 2

Sync problem with Pro 2
« on: January 20, 2017, 11:57:29 PM »
Hi,
I have a problem with my Pro 2 and Pro Tools .
All seem ok, the Pro 2 is in Slave mode, midi , and Pro Tools send the midi beat Clock.
When i play a sequence in Pro Tools, i have only the first note and nothing else.

Second problem, i try it with USB .
I ask to Pro Pool to send the midi beat Clock on the USB port, no problem.Pro tools play a sequence, but there is a problem of syncro if a use the Pro 2 sequencer . if Pro tools play a loop ( for example 4 bars), i see and i hear that the sequence is not sync along Pro Tools play.

I'm very sorry for my bad English written, but i'm french ;)

Thank you in advance because it is a big problem for me.

I would like to use the midi and not the USB, if it's possible.

I have no sound if i try to use both Midi and USB for Sync.

I wish I could help. I have also problems to sync the Pro 2 with Logic.
All my other gear syncs. The Pro 2 so now and than. Doesn't make any difference if I use midi or USB.
Try several setting in Logic with zero results. Did you solve it already?
Thx.

Hello everyone.
First post here, learning as much as I can before getting a Pro 2.
I want to know myself as it is something I will do very often. Although not ideal try to have the Pro 2 as the master clock and your DAW (and everything else) as slave.

Let us know if that helped, or not. :)

easy way to do this is set your play source from te seq in the pro 2 to key, make a clip in your day playing a note to the pro 2 ...then its starts at the desired time, make sure tempo's are equal ...

Hi,

you should first check the global settings and choose the DIN as Midiclock Source. The Sequencer has many trigger modes if you press play it should run and eventually loop. Another Mode is it starts at keypress or gates at keypress there are many ways to use it.
Running the Pro as Master is something i would rather not do to sync a DAW because it could easily mess up the the computers timeline. It is easier the other way.

Hope this helps,

Martin

There are two settings in Global that you need to make sure are correct.  "MIDI clock mode" set to "slave".  The following setting is "MIDI clock cable".  This setting needs to agree to the type of cable you are using to connect to the Pro-2.   If you are using a USB cable set it to "USB".  If you are using a MIDI cable, set it to "MIDI".  If this setting is not correct, the Pro-2 will not communicate with the DAW. (BTW, either use the USB or a MIDI cable but not both).

The way to check if you have these settings right is to go into the sequencer settings.  Enter the page "Arp+Seq".  On that page you will see a box on the left with "EXT BPM" under it.  If the box contains a number, e.g., "140", then the Pro-2 is communicating with the DAW.  If it says "NO CLK", it is not communicating with your DAW.  Also, you will only see "EXT BPM" if the global setting has been set to slave.  Otherwise it will only state "BPM" and will have a number in the box.

Hope this helps.

Jim Thorburn .  Toys-  Dave Smith: Prophet 5, Rev 4; Prophet 08; Pro 2; Prophet 12 module; EastWest Orchestral soft synths; Yamaha S-90; Yamaha Montage 8, Yamaha DX-7; KARP Odyssey; Ensoniq ESQ-1.  All run through a Cubase DAW with a Tascam DM-24 board.

It seems that the Pro2 is sync in S/S slave mode instead of slave only.
I don't know why....
