Title: Evolver sound change since original release?
Post by: sayersweb on December 15, 2016, 08:05:19 AM
Hello,

I had a very early Evolver desktop when they were first released. I found the sound to be a bit harsh and did not like the sound character overall, sold it after a few months. Recently, I found one at a good price, thinking it could be used for background noises/fx in some tracks. When I tried it out, the sound was so much nicer than I remember from the original, smoother, more high fidelity. This one has the latest operating system and firmware.

Does anyone know if there have been changes to the sound engine in the OS and firmware updates? I'm very surprised and pleased with how the Evolver desktop now sounds. I'm using the SoundTower plug-in editor which makes it much easier to edit patches.

When I had a Desktop Evolver, it was an early copy, and I never thought it sounded harsh. That doesn't mean there aren't differences; but in six years of reading zillions of Evolver posts, I've never read anything about a marked sound difference.
