Title: 4-Pole OTA Filter - Prophet 5 or Prophet 6 Filter?
Post by: idspispopd on July 19, 2022, 12:03:51 PM
Has anyone opened up their Pro 3 and looked at the filter chip of the 4-pole OTA filter? Is it the SSI2140 (Prophet 5), the Prophet 6 filter, or something different?

Whatever it is, it sounds great, it's my favorite of the 3 filters.  I'm just curious.

Pretty sure it was the P6 one as it was in the Pro 2. A key sign is that it doesn’t have bass rolloff at high resonance.

Yeah, the manual says it's the Prophet 6 filter.

I only see documentation that says it's based on the Prophet 6 filter, not that it's necessarily the same as the Prophet 6 filter.

It IS the Prophet 6 filter. It says so on the product webpage and even includes the trademark. I think I also remember a video of Dave talking about it, but I cannot remember which right now. The Pro 2 says it is inspired by a Prophet filter. I suspect they are different. Also, the 4 pole OTA (Prophet 6) is discrete, not a chip apparently.
