Title: negative amount on filter envelope causes clicking
Post by: bleepbloop on July 04, 2022, 01:03:24 PM
Howdy everyone.  This may be due to my relative inexperience with the Take 5 but I am finding that setting a negative amount on the filter envelope reliably causes a noticeable click.  What seems to be happening is that instead of the envelope starting at the specified amount offset, it instead always starts at zero and then jumps to the offset causing the click.  There is no way to prevent this behaviour that I have found so far which leaves the only workaround being to use the amplitude envelope to mask the click which is limiting.

To recreate the issue start with the init program. From there set the filter attack, sustain and amount to 0% (turn the knob to the far left). Next set both decay and release to 50% (turn the knob to 12 o'clock position).  If you then tap a key repeatedly you will hear the filter clicking.

It seems to be worse when note stealing occurs but it happens even when playing the synth from a fresh power cycle off and on.

Is this a known bug or am I misunderstanding the envelope architecture?
