Title: Pan Spread and MPE
Post by: chapelier fou on May 30, 2022, 04:56:35 AM
It seems that, when used in MPE mode, each note has a fixed pan, while in regular MIDI mode, the panning changes at each press. It feels really static and annoying. Is there a reason for this ?

I've never used MPE, but it sounds to me like the OB-6 assigns one voice per channel in MPE mode, and your MPE controller re-uses that channel for that note, similar to the Prophet-5 style of voice allocation.  In essence, the round robin allocation the OB-6 does normally is being overridden.  Can your MPE controller do its own round robining across the MPE channels?

I'm currently struggling to get my hands on the voice allocation system in Ableton, but it's....difficult.
Not totally sure it would solve the issue anyway.
Thanks for the answer !
