I’m about to take the plunge to getting a Pro 3 and debating whether or not to satisfy that “aesthetics” itch for the extra $500. Any Special edition owners thinking they should have just gone with the standard? Are you finding yourselves using the panel in the propped up position frequently?

Keep your eyes peeled for deals over the weekend. I got my SE last Black Friday for the same price as the standard edition so was a no-brainer. Bax Music in The Netherlands.

I have my SE with the back propped up 100%, it helps as I have it on tier 2 of a 3 tier setup. I love the look of the SE, but it's still not perfect, in my opinion they should have made the knobs nicer too, they are a bit plasticy. Not sure a bit of wood and a kick stand is worth the price difference. But hey, I did it, and I love it!

I just ordered an SE for that same reason. I rearranged the studio and the Pro-3 ended up on a top tier, making it just a bit inconvenient to get to the controls.

I like both the Pro 3 with the inlaid Sequential on the plastic side panels and the Pro 3 SE with the wood panels and the tilt. I went with the Pro 3 SE when it was announced. It currently sits on tier 2 of a Z-stand and is always propped up. Quite happy with the Pro 3 SE. Also worked to mount a camera on it for streaming last year.

Mine's on tier 1, but this still matches my experience exactly, both on the tilt and the plastic knobs. The luxurious aesthetic has its own definite value whose $500 premium I would call an extravagance rather than a silly move as long as your bank account can handle it. If that $500 would have gotten you other needed gear that you now have to forego, it's not worth it.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! I nabbed one from Alto Music who had a deal on a near-perfect open box unit for $1600. I got it two days ago, and I'm in love with it. Not sure what is "near" perfect about it. It looks fantastic!

i got mine from Alto...same deal - SE but for $1605. Came in 2 days. It sounds magnificent!

I prefer the regular Pro3 for the lighter weight and simpler panel, but I intend to use it live, too, so that is important to me. For studio use only the SE would be great!
