Title: Prophet 12 Vox Humana Patch
Post by: DRM on November 14, 2021, 02:46:46 AM
When I got my Prophet 12 I worked on figuring out the interface and made a bunch of patches. Unfortunately it's been sitting for over a year and I never got around to recording any of them -- until today. Here's a (somewhat) similar recreation of the famous Vox Humana sound from the Polymoog:

The Prophet 12 actually has enough LFOs and oscillators to pull it off. The patch could still do with some fine tuning on the lower keys (I have it operating in split mode to try and mimic the Polymoog better).

Anyways, maybe someone will find that experiment interesting at least -- so far this is my favourite (if inaccurate) recreation of Vox Humana, I think it has to do with the fact the Prophet 12 dynamically changes voices and (can) add VCO slop for a little detune. Because the patch requires a lot of 'motion' even sampling Vox Humana loses a bit of the sonic awesomeness when you hear specific loop points.

Interesting comparison to the old patch.   For whatever reason I was only able to get some loose approximation of voice/choir like sounds on P12, despite all the good mod.
