Title: Main 1.2.0 Bank Knob [Resolved]
Post by: chysn on July 09, 2021, 08:18:38 AM
I'm 50 years old and my Early Adopter behavior is pretty much baked in at this point. I'll never change.

First thing I noticed with the new OS is that the Bank knob only goes back as far as U2. I need to use the soft knob to move from U2 to U1. Pretty sure it's not the encoder at fault, because getting from U3 to U2 (etc.) works fine.

Lol - I know the feeling :P

So when will 1.2.1 be out?  ;D

I buried the lead, though, which is that Patch Morphing is a ton of fun! Easy to set up with a new tab. It's like having dozens of modulation slots on a single control.

Very nice work, and it'll become one of the Pro 3's killer apps.

Hi Chysn. Over here both the dedicated Bank encoder and the soft knob go though all banks without issue in either direction on 1.2.

Let me amend my report: It only behaves this way when I'm on U2 P1

Let me amend it again: It's really, really weird. On U2 P2, it behaves wrong in a different way. It behaves wrong in several different ways depending on which Program I'm on. It'll take a while to document the behavior. Probably the same root cause, so I might not have to...?

Thanks for the vid. Did you reset globals after updating? And which panel OS are you on (shown in the sequencer step LEDs when you press and hold the ARP button)?

Yes, and I reset them again now just to make sure. Power cycled for good measure. The issue persists.

Panel OS is "2=Red, 6=Green."

Two others confirm this behavior on the Facebook Pro 3 group.

I got the same problem as Chysn.

I can go to U1 to F8 with the bank knob, but can't go from F8 to U1. It goes to U2, but doesn't go further back to U1.

Global reset completed. Panel OS showing 2 (red) and 6 (green).

I'm also seeing similar behaviour on my Pro 3 SE. As Jason mentioned, repeat by starting with patch U2 P1. Soft knob 1 works. Go back to U2 P1. Turning the Bank knob to the left doesn't seem to go below U2. Going to the right go to higher does jump up.

Other random starting patch positions seem fine, mostly.

Another detail: Sometimes, when moving the Bank knob slowly, it doesn't always seem to be registered (bank doesn't change), while the Soft knob 1 does change bank, properly, each time.

These issues seem to happen more when the patch number is +1, -1 of the Bank number, e.g., at U2 P3, moving the Bank knob slowly doesn't seem to increase the Bank number. Or, F6 P5, moving the Bank knob slowly to the left doesn't decrease the Bank number. Going up is fine. If the Patch number is P9 or higher, these issues aren't really noticed.

The Soft knob 1 seems okay for stepping through the bank numbers in each of these cases.

Hope that helps in diagnosis.

Thanks everyone. I've got a good repro case now, too. It's on our buglist.
