Title: Prophet Rev 2 and Sequential Pro 3
Post by: r010159 on May 27, 2021, 09:55:57 PM
I am not trying to compare the two except with the sound from both. Both have very similar oscillator controls, like shape and shape mod. There are different filters on the Rev 2. However, the Pro 3 is more flexible, and there is that wavetable oscillator that the Rev 2 does not have.

Shouldn’t the Pro 3 be able to make very similar sounds to all the sounds on the Rev 2, and more? Maybe the Curtis filter on the Rev 2 makes the difference?

Thankyou!

Never had a REV 2, but I’ve owned a couple Mophos, so the DCO/Curtis architecture upon which the REV 2 is based.

They’re really quite different. Pro 3 won’t cover 100% of REV 2’s ground, particularly due to the filter.

It seems like the decision would be based on the need for polyphony.

Have both here sitting side-by-side. They have completely different character when it comes to sound. HTH!
