Title: Some issues maybe you can help!
Post by: Thomas.patrick on May 26, 2021, 04:53:02 AM
Hello!

Had my Pro3 just over a year now and been having a couple of issues. I can send it in for repair but maybe it’s something simple??!

Firstly, one key is a bit unresponsive. Sometimes it doesn’t trigger. And now the key next to it is similar. Interestingly at times it does trigger during a time of being intermittent, but with full aftertouch applied. So like it’ll trigger but with the filter as open as I’ve set in the matrix to open with aftertouch.

Second, the parameters jump all over the place. Not on analog parameters, but on encoders controlling digital stuff. Like when I use the encoders surrounding the display. Or anything really. For example changing programs, it’ll go from 1, to 2, Jump to 40 and then back to 20. Even when going slowly. Same with many other encoders. Is this common??

Thanks in advance guys!

Contact support directly...  Their team is excellent and usually very quick to respond.   They can help you debug further and come up with fix.

Behavior like this is sometimes a simple fix (ie: a cable inside might be loose)... or could be a more serious issue that requires a board swap or unit replacement.

Sometimes just opening up and reseating connectors can fix issues like this.

Some weeks ago my Pro 3 developed an issue where the octave knobs started blinking wildly.  Turns out they are on their own board.  After reseating the ribbon cable going to it, they've been fine since.

The Pro 3 is very easy to open up and access internals.  Probably the easiest of any piece of electronics I've operated on in recent memory, especially given how many knobs and jacks it has.  Just be careful with the ribbon connectors themselves.  They are the "friction-fit" type, meaning, unlike some which have a little "cover" which opens and the cable just falls out/sits in, these you have to gently pull/wiggle out and push them back in without bending them.
