One thing cool about the Pro 3 is that the third, wavetable osc still sounds to my ear a little "analog", especially on the basic waveforms. I don't know if this was carefully thought out in advance, or if it is because of the filters or the actual waveforms themselves, but I like it. Great little synth!

Right? It's an amazing oscillator in general. It can really stand on its own, and it has no problem functioning as a third basic waveshape for big analog sounds. But of course it can also be unapologetically digital. It's terribly flexible, and I'd love to have a second one. It would be great to be able to use one for modulation and one for audio.
-
Very true. I guess I was just surprised at how well it fit in with the analog basic waveshapes. I guess without that behavior it would be hard to get convincing 3 part paraphonic operation. But like you said, it can do the digital waveshape thing too. Kinda reminds me a tiny bit of my old Ensoniq SQ-80 in that it could sound pretty convincingly analog, or wavetable digital. I guess that is why I have always liked hybrids. But I really like that the Pro 3 seems to hold it's own on the analog side, even vintage sounds, yet can do the modern thing too.

Really, REALLY hope that Sequential's next poly synth includes two of these Wavetable oscillators and two VCOs.
-
Oh, that would be cool, even for a mono!

I just think two is needed if you want to Vector between them.
-
Some have mentioned wanting a Pro 3 poly synth. That would be kind of cool if it is even possible.

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Dave has done analog/digital oscillators in the Poly Evolver.
-
True that, just don't know how complicated the interface would be. But then again, the Polyevolver was pretty complex!
-
Maybe it is because of everything running through the analog filter.

Question, can you use the sequencer to Wave Sequence on the Wavetable oscillator? Meaning can you program a sequencer step to be one Wavetable and then the next step to be a different wavetable?

No, wavetable number is not a modulation destination.

That is really unfortunate. Was a feature on the Evolver line. Would love to see this implemented somehow.

More options is usually better, of course, and that would be nice. I can see Osc 3 Shape modulation being particularly useful in an instrument with more than one wavetable oscillator, to do cross-fading. But, from a practical standpoint, the Pro 3 already has plenty of resources to do wave sequencing. If you want to control wave shape over time, the Pro 3's voice architecture is way better at that than the original Wavestation's was. It just lacks the polyphony.
But you wouldn't see me complaining if they could add this destination!
Note that Sequential is underselling the capabilities of their wavetable oscillator. A Pro 3 "wavetable" file contains four 16-wave wavetables. In all the preset wavetables, and the wavetables generated by Sequential's tool, all four of these wavetables are the same, at different frequencies. But there's no reason this must be the case. By modulating both pitch and wave shape of multi-dimensional wavetables, it's possible to access 64 different waveforms. (See https://forum.sequential.com/index.php/topic,4917.0.html)

Do you think, if it's not too much trouble, you could attempt to mimic some wave sequencing by sequencing the shape and pitch of the wavetable oscillator and post it here? I would love to hear an example of this.

Yeah, that sounds fun, actually. I might not be able to get to it until next week, but I’ll get started on a 64-waveform table with some Wavestation samples from the Korg Legacy Collection.

Not quite the same but I have a video showing how you can do some of that kind of wave sequencing with the analog oscillators.
