Title: One wish, just one wish for the next os ...
Post by: Micky on April 18, 2021, 01:20:46 AM
There´s space in the new global bank 3.

Wouldn´t it be really great to get the possibility to reduce the part-amount of the detune as part of the different destinations of the great, new vintage-knob-function ?

For me, that woud be the icing on the cake...

If that’s possible, I wouldn’t mind having that option as well.

I would like to see much higher resolution on the lfo frequency knob which is stepping very noticeably between values in the highest speed range. I'm sure is doable since the lfo knob isn't sending out midi (nothing important anyway) so the values don't need to be constrained to 128 or 256 or whatever it is in this case.
You can precisely tune the very fast lfo on the Behringer Neutron which has a digital lfo but precise lfo tuning in the upper range is an issue with the OB-6.

Addendum to the above.. It would be nice to have a "smooth" mode for performance purposes only, i.e, ultra-fine resolution of all pitch knobs, filters, x mod, lfos etc and no semitone increments on the pitch knobs to allow for stepping-free fm tweaking etc. . Since the midi protocol only needs to be used for saving patches etc. Is there any reason why this can't be implemented?

I would like to see the retuning for every degree of temperature changed to every 5 degrees or maybe 10! I have rebuilt the temperature tables probably 100 times, and leave it on for an hour and it jumps back and forth out of tune. I’ve also tried filling all the temp tables up, and it’s the same. I basically have to tune it every f$@cking time I play it. My almost 40 year old OB8 stays PERFECTLY in tune no matter if I run auto tune or not. It’s so damn FRUSTRATING! Ridiculous on a $3000 synth!!

I would contact support to try to figure out what's going on... that's not normal.  I haven't needed to tune my OB-6 in ages, nor do I need to regularly with any of my Sequential synths.

I can hardly believe that. My Prophet Rev2 and my Super Jupiter for instance are pretty stable compared to my OB-6 which I need to tune every time I use it.

I have no reason to lie about it.   I will say that I maintain very stable room temperatures, so maybe that has something to do with why others have terrible luck.  Or maybe they are positioning their instruments in such a way they are getting transient heat from other devices which are throwing the calibration off.

I'm a pretty new ob6 owner, i was finding my unit going out of tune quite a bit, even after the expected retunes for the first few days.  In the end i tried wiping the reference table, and its been much better since starting fresh.  I think you should do it with caution but worked for me.  Info was from here https://forum.sequential.com/index.php?topic=475.20

It would be nice if the operation of the sequencer could be improved, maybe to something like playing along with a metronome which is quantized to 64 measures. I had an idea that I wanted to sequence today which involved 5 & 6 note chords, some of which are held for 13 measures. I can't program that with the current system unless I press the tens increment button repeatedly with my nose.

You could get one of those head attachments that people use when they don’t have the use of their hands to press the tens button! :)
