For the individual voice outputs, we are told to use Y-Cables (single TRS to dual TS), as these outputs are stereo. Is the only purpose of this to implement the panning function of each individual sound in the Mixer?
I am wondering whether, to avoid the use of Y-Cables, I could just run a single TRS cable for each individual output into my recording device. Then, after recording in mono, if I wanted panning, in my DAW I could create two mono tracks of the sound, panned hard left and right but at different volume levels, thus simulating panning. Does anyone see any downside to doing that / am I missing out on something? Thanks.

The individual outs are mono, they have two voices out of one 'stereo' output if you like, hence the need for a Y cable.

The individual voice output jacks are in fact stereo.
You can, however, use mono cables, but it will affect amp and feedback levels, and of course you will lose any panning effects. To that end, feedback is tapped off the left output, so you'll have to adjust the panning of your sounds accordingly if you want to retain its effect.

Oh God, you're right of course! I got confused as I always have mine set up split as two mono outs and then pan sounds hard left/right so they can be processed differently!
