Title: Syncing OB6 to TR-08 (or any drum machine for that matter)
Post by: saltyj on November 28, 2020, 04:31:21 PM
Sorry for the probably noob question but I can't seem to figure it out. What do I need to do after hooking up a MIDI cable? I specifically want the sequencer synced to the TR-08.

The TR08 needs to send MIDI clock and MIDI start/stop commands. I don't own one but I'd be very surprised if it isn't able to do those things though you might need to set them to "on" or whatever. It's a setting to make rather than something you have to "add" or "do". You'll need to look in the TR08 manual.

The OB6 will lock BPM to the TR08 MIDI clock signal and start and stop on receipt of the MIDI start/stop commands (sent automatically, again not something you have to worry about if you've made the setting on the TR08)

The OB6 needs to be set as follows to play ball:

Globals: MIDI Clock: in
Globals: Clock Port: MIDI (styled as 'Nid' on the display)

That should do it!
