Title: Keytriggered LFO?
Post by: eisblau on October 20, 2020, 09:24:07 PM
As I see, there is no hint in the manual that the LFO may be re-triggered by keypress, so I guess it's simply free running (= started when you turn on the synthesizer). As velocity and aftertouch were added for additional expression/control, can we expect an keytriggered LFO option as well?

Idea would be to press and hold a special button like velocity or aftertouch for more than 2 seconds to engage or disengage keytrigger. This would be great.

I like the free running LFO. I think the Prophet VS seemed to have key triggered LFO and it annoyed me no end as well as the short maximum cycle time of about 8sec as opposed to nearly a minute on my old PROPHET-5.  I was very glad that the Prophet-6 and OB-6 had free running main LFOs with longest cycle up to 30-40 seconds and also the HOLD control to hold a note or chord, like drone on the Pro-One.

Key triggered LFO would be nice for some but I would like to have option to use the P10 with fewer voices and even a double up using 2 voices under each note, 4 VCOs per voice, with the same patch. As for bitimbrality, the original P5/10 a design that was never meant to be bitimbral anyway. Just IMHO. It's going to be the sound that's the key. If I could choose, I would get the 10, with or without anything else but it would be nice to have more than one velocity or aftertouch response curve. I need to go check the user manuals!
