Title: Sequencer Note Number Recording?
Post by: MrBentleyDean on April 20, 2020, 04:13:35 PM
Hey all,

Quick question here, I'm trying to get the sequencer to send midi note information to ableton (via usb). I'm looking to either record it in as a midi clip for live clip launching or to distribute the same midi to other hardware but remove steps from the pattern.

From my understanding of the manual, we can only send midi note on/off information provided velocity is at a certain level. I've tinkered with as many settings and re-read the manual a fair share of times, still no dice. I do see midi information being received by my DAW on Channel 3 that I set up for the Pro 3, but no sequencer data.

Thanks for any help and cheers to my new favorite piece of gear!

Am i doing something wrong? Does this only with 5-pin midi?

Update: I spoke with Sequential support via email and finally got this figured out. I'll post the notes below, hopefully this will help anyone in the future. Note that USB cannot be used for this feature - only MIDI 1 or MIDI 2 outputs

1) Make a copy of the note sequence to an unused sequencer track. For me it was Track 1 to Track 7. Also, if the sequence is polyphonic then you will have to copy each track containing the note information to a new unused track.
2) Head into the Mod Matrix, and assign the copied track (Track 7) as the source, amount 127, and set the destination to "Midi 1 Note Channel 1"

This should allow your DAW to be sent midi note information from the sequencer. Big thanks to Andy over at support for all the help!

It's good to note that you can simply assign the track in question (#7 in your case) to MIDI NOTE output rather than using the mod matrix.

Awesome thank you! Just noticed the Destination setting tucked away in the corner of the screen there.
