Title: Software for Alternative tunings
Post by: wetfood on March 24, 2016, 02:42:39 AM
Hi,

Just thought I'd give a heads up to anybody who would like to create their own microtonal scales for the prophet 6.

The alt-tuning feature is what really sold me on the P6, but sadly there was no info anywhere about how to actually load a scale onto the thing.

I searched far and wide and nearing the point of giving up, decided I'd commission my good man over at H-pi instruments to add the ability to export tunings in the .mts sysex format using his (brilliant!) piece of software. He was generous enough to oblige, and now it's a fairly simple process.

Custom Scale Editor has now been updated to easily export scale files (handles just about any file type out there) and it's easily the most intuitive, and powerful software for creating microtonal scales. A steal at $25

(I'm not affiliated with H-pi - just a happy customer)

btw, here's a wonderful, free collection of 4,500 scales, compatible with the P6 using CSE:

Thanks for the info, wetfood!

The first link doesn't seem to work. Is there a typo anywhere, or did I just check it when the server was unavailable?

hmmm... works fine for me, no idea why that would be.

Here's the link for the H-pi site and you can navigate to the CSE page from there: http://hpi.zentral.zone/index

Now the original link works too. I must have ran into temporary server issues it seems. Thanks for double-checking!
