In case any of you didn't see the announcement or release for BlueWave over the past few of weeks, Goldbaby just released the Prophet X pack for his library yesterday. This library is based on samples of the PPG Wave 2.2 and I think it sounds great if you like some of those sounds from the 80's.

Now only if we could get some Emulator packs or DX7 packs. I’m still working on my Fairlight packs myself.
-
Great soundbank !!
Thank You !
-
So I have all the 8DIO packs, and the Goldbaby BlueWave pack is easily the best of any pack released so far for the PX.
The quality is fantastic, heaps of really great sounding presets, and more interesting timbral content that any other offerings so far. Stereo samples, stereo filters, lush.
I really hope this is the first of many Goldbaby packs. I bought Dirt & Layers ages ago and made my own Prophet X packs of those, and they are also superbly good samples to have on hand.
Don't hesitate on these, worth every penny.

Where are these installed?
I.e the samples (User 1,2,3 etc...) ?
And the presets are they installed into A1,A2,A3 etc... or one of the user preset banks ?
-
As I noted in another forum, I was fortunate enough to preview this one, and it’s right up my alley as the kind of raw content I think suits the Prophet X beautifully. What I’ve listened to so far has that classic razor-edged bite that screams PPG, sampled by capturing a wide range of underlying tonalities rather than baking in decisions that should be made later when building presets.
After all, the Prophet X has both a perfectly fine analog VCA and the modern recreation of the SSM 2044 filter used in the PPG. The bite can be tamed to the sorts of wam, silky smooth sounds you might expect - but it’s easy to create presets that let you dig in and find that aggressive tone lurking underneath. Really nice stuff.
Where are these installed?
As delivered, they’re set up to install in the User 8 bank and that’s where the presets rely on finding them. If you don’t care about the presets or are prepared to update them, the samples can be installed in a different User bank.
And the presets are they installed into A1,A2,A3 etc... or one of the user preset banks ?
The presets install in U4.

And this is where the problems lie with X sampling. All my user samples are in bank 8. So I'll need to rename all the GB ones or recreate the presets.
Why spend time making music when you can use substandard software? (not aimed at you LG!)

The sample management aspects of the Prophet X are extremely basic and it’s likely they simply underestimated how interested people would be in actively creating and sharing samples. It’s definitely an area where some additional tools could improve matters, no question.
As it happens, I have been thinking some about how to improve matters. There’s really no reason why a combined sample + preset librarian couldn’t do a decent job of letting you move instruments and presets around prior to installing the, including renumbering them and fixing all the internal references automatically. It’s just a question of time and effort.
I probably won’t take on something like this immediately, but I’d definitely offer insight if a commercial vendor wanted to take it on. Or people could wait for me to hit a workload lull and a burst of productive side-project activity again.

Does DS know about your excellent work LG?

It never hurts to let Sequential know if you find it useful. ;)

I have! I pointed out I'm only complaining because I care about this synthesiser.

Hi everyone,
I've found this website on the net.
All the folders are in .wav, there are some pretty cool things.

Great find. Might not have to finish my Fairlight pack after all. ;)
I'm going to try to import some of these into the PX and see how it goes.

These instal in the same location as the Deckard dream samples :( - What to do ?
Is it enough just to change the folder name to u06, for example ?

Hello,
yes it is !!!
You can also rename the folder ( for example 4 Choir or 5 Cinematic etc...)
-
You can just rename the folder and the samples will install in the desired user bank. No problem there. The presets, however, will still point to the original location. So if you’re not using the presets it’s no big deal. If you are, however...
I may tackle a preset and instrument management addition to PXToolkit at some point to handle all the required changes. I haven’t committed to doing so, however, and it wouldn’t likely happen in the short term if I do. I might be able to do a bulk edit tool for vendors, however, so Goldbaby and others would have an ugly but functional way to produce alternative presets pointing at different user banks. I’ll give it some thought (but nothing is happening until I get my laptop back with a new keyboard!)

As logic would have it, someone else saw the logic of "starting at the end"... Oops.

These sound awesome! Really a great compliment to the PX's oscillators and filters. Very well done!

I wonder if the wavetable scanning on the old PPG machines is sampled as well.

I've had an issue with loading the sysex file into my PXL. Only the even numbered programs get loaded into U4, the odd numbered ones do not get touched. Has anyone here seen something like this happen? I've tried both MIDI-OX on PC and the SysEx Librarian on Mac and same result. I tried downloading the zip package from Goldbaby again and same results.

Are you using the default, agonizingly slow, timing for SysEx Librarian? I used that app to install a preview of the BlueWave pack without issues, all presets intact. If you reduce the delays too much I’d believe every other preset could be missed.

I used default values. First time using program ever.
Update - after switching back to SysEx Librarian and increasing delay that worked. Thanks.

Hello,
it's no dedicated to the Px.
It needs some works to do...
But, after that, it sounds really great !

Erebus, thanks so much for posting this. I really appreciate the work that you, Lady Gaia, and others are doing to extend the Prophet X.
I love the instrument and at the same time I’ve been completely perplexed by the expansions that 8dio is releasing. To my taste they are so duplicative of what is already available in the synth. I’ve been longing for some digital sounds, FM waves, and more acoustic samples. Not a complaint, really, I just don’t quite understand the thought process of releasing samples of so much classic analog gear without some other variety.
In any case, your work helps a lot!

This sounds good. Was majorly impressed with their D50/Fairlight packs.

I'm sure each attempt captures a slightly different aspect of the instrument, but with only 91 total samples the Cyborg Studio capture is quite limited. The Goldbaby pack has 72 instruments, each consisting of 30 or more samples. Plus presets built on the samples. It's a rather nice collection.
-
hello lobos live . how does the cyborg samples compare to real d50 ? i saw that they only have c3 or c4 .

Perfect. You cant really experiment with the partials like you could with the D50’s joystick but you can layer two samples and blend them with an LFO or the touch sliders. I’ve installed Fantasia, Soundtrack, Elec Bass and Digital Native Dance patches in my PX and just the ability to layer those iconic D50 sounds with other instruments or experiment with them is fantastic. One patch I layered the D50’s Soundtrack patch with the CMI Fairlight’s Arr1 vocal patch and it sounded amazing.

Just wish I could find an Emulator II library.
-
thanks for the info lobo, i gonna get the d50 and the cmi too . cyborg have the Emulator 3 too for sell . i don't know if is the same than the emulator 2 .

Keep in mind they are missing a few trademark sounds (Orch2 Hits, Digital Native Dance) so you may have to ask around for samples of those if you want a complete pack. I actually asked someone on a synth facebook group if they could sample 30 seconds of C notes in various octaves from their D50 for the Digital Native Dance patch. I paid them $10 for their troubles and they sent the files over to me.

For anyone interested in trying out the stuff from Samples From Mars, it looks like they are currently running a huge sale and you can get *all* of their samples for only $39 - 97% off. (https://samplesfrommars.com/products/all-products-from-mars) I don't know how long the sale is running, though, so it might end soon.
