Title: Significant lower Volume with parallel filters
Post by: mosen on May 10, 2019, 04:19:44 AM
Hi,
everytime i use the two fitlers in parallel the overall volume drops rapidly.
I guess it is for having enough headroom and to prevent the synth for clipping but is there any gainstage to make up for lost voulme? Do you have also heavy volume loss when using filters in parallel?

best

Well you can turn the drive up on filter/oscillator until if feels about the same but it will likely change the over all character of the sound you are going for or go through all your other patches and turn the amp down to match, more time consuming but I think it would give you the over all best effect. But yeah it does seem to happen at times but I've found it mostly when you stack 2 low pass filters at similar setting in series or parallel. Are you sure that isn't what is going on for you?

I think the easy way is the QUAD level, which effects the volume of all four oscillators, before any other stage in the signal path, so before the duel filters.

Keep in mind that the filters' purpose are to subtract certain wavelengths from the signal.  Depending upon how you have them set, they may be duplicating the subtraction making the sound appear softer.  Fewer waves = softer sound.
