Title: OB-6 & Prophet 6 trouble with Cubase 10 and midi clock
Post by: painfilter on April 08, 2019, 08:54:42 AM
Hi There,
I have a strange issue with my OB-6 and Prophet 6 regarding Cubase and midi clock.
I use the OB-6 also as my masterkeyboard (with local ctrl: off) and everything is clock controlled by Cubase.
When I try to use both synths together (which are connected both with USB to my iMac) and have enabled midi clock sync from Cubase, the synth I have selected in a Cubase track, is showing strange behavior with the clock synchronization. The clock display is running wild and I can only stop this, by selecting no midi device as input in the Cubase track. It almost looks like there is some kind of clock loopback. Additional the synths could become unresponsive e.g. parameter changes have no effect at all. Sometime even the whole Mac freeze. Maybe I need to configure each synth in a specific way or could this be a hardware related problem? Thank you for your help!

Ok, I maybe found the cause of the problem. It seems to be neither Cubase, OB-6 or Prophet 6 but my Korg Prologue 16. The unit is also set to receive its clock signal from Cubase, but Midi Monitor clearly shows, that the Prologue is constantly transmitting a midi clock signal (over USB) and therefore is flooding the OB-6 and Prophet 6 with data. I have no Idea why it's doing that but I plan to figure it out ;)

Just today I ran into a related unusual problem. I had a (too complex) Midi-OX map connecting some of my gear, and at some point my OB-6 started limiting out at 3-voice polyphony. After some poking around, I discovered that MIDI Clock Out had been turned on and was looping MIDI back and stealing voices. Learned my lesson about willy-nilly mapping my MIDI setup.
