Title: Unwanted Distortion in Paraphonic mode when exceeding 2 notes
Post by: seanny_keys on November 05, 2018, 08:03:47 AM
Hi All, as a disclaimer I am fairly new to synthesis as well as the Pro 2.

Last night I was doing some paraphonic sound design trying to make a clean Sine wave pad. I noticed some distortion in the patch as soon as I would play 3 or 4 notes at a time. I could play 1 or 2 notes and achieve the nice clean sound I was looking for, but as soon as I played the 3rd note an unwanted distortion would occur. Anyone know what might cause this? Or is this simply the way paraphonic functions?

My patch was very simple, made from a basic program with 4 sine oscillators in paraphonic mode (on software update 1.3, I just saw the new update came out).

Thanks

Try turning down the quad level (under "character" menu, then "sub" heading) or the individual oscillator(s) level. I almost never have my osc volumes above 100 as it's easy to overload / create unwanted distortion with the full 127 setting.

Bringing the quad level down did the trick. Good to know.

Thanks man!
