Title: Any way to store all the knob settings within DAW?
Post by: Aimbit on July 21, 2018, 06:39:21 PM
I know there are some "VST"s that will basically load/save programs and allow you to adjust your OB-6 from a software perspective, but I don't feel like paying $50-100 for it.  Is there a way to store knob info in Ableton without the use of a VST?

My understanding is that the answer is no...there is the SoundTower software and the codeKnobs solution. Neither is perfect, but both seem to cover this requirement, and yes...they cost $50-100 depending on how much capability you want (i.e. VST, standalone, etc...)

Any opinions on whether the SoundTower or the codeKnobs solution works better? What are the imperfections in each?

I use Soundtower plugin for Moog Voyager and it always worked very well. Somehow in the case of the Rev2 plugin, the Soundtower one did not work for me and i ended up buying from another company. But i would recommend Soundtower products.

In fact i'm testing their Ob6 plugin right now (they have a free demo version) and seems to work fine. Even if you won't buy it, worth to install the demo version because you can actually change programs and see the actual knobs' position in each preset ; this is very useful as synthesis study.
